9 DhulHijjah 10 AH (9 March 632) at Mount Arafat Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) undertook his farewell pilgrimage in the year 10 A.H. His farewell pilgrimage to Mecca is one of the most significant historical events in the minds of Muslims, for it was the first and last pilgrimage performed by Prophet Muhammad, as well as being the model for performing the fifth pillar of Islam, Hajj. Prophet Muhammad’s final sermon was delivered during the Hajj of the year 632 C.E., the ninth day of Dhul Hijjah, the 12th month of the lunar year, at Arafat, the most blessed day of the year. There were numerous Muslims present with the Prophet during his last pilgrimage when he delivered his last sermon. After praising and thanking Allah, Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. All over the world today, you see young and old Muslim women advertising hijab on the local and social media and even in the news papers. The momentum of hijab keeps growing day to day all over the globe; The Muslim women are emotional and proud of the hijab. Meanwhile, it is also so sad and frustrating that the more hijab becomes popular, the more it loses its real identity and application. If you compare between the hijab of this century and the hijab of the past century(s), you will find a very big gap between the ways hijab had been wore and how differently it has become today. Som...

In the name of Allah the lord who created the creations and chose elites among his creations. Allah says in the holy Qur’an “ indeed the number of months in the sight of Allah is twelve in the book of Allah the day he created the heavens and the earth, among them there are four sacred months” The messenger (P.B.U.H) of Allah also made statement about the sanctity of these four months. He Muhammad (P.B.U.H) is reported to have said: “ Allah has chosen elites from his creation: from among the Angels He chose messengers, from among the mankind He chose the messengers, from among speech He chose remembrance of Him (dhikr), from among the spaces on earth He chose the mosque, from among the months He chose Ramadaan and the four sacred months, from among the days He chose Friday and from among the nights He chose laila tu khadir” The four sacred months are Raja b ,...

Allah created the days of the week and made them seven and he created the months of the year and made them twelve; and chose four of them as the sacred months of the year as He has mentioned in the holy book. “Verily! The number of months in the sight of Allah is twelve months since the day he created the heavens and the earth; among them are four sacred months” The four sacred months are Rajab, Dhu’l-Quada, Dhu’l-Hijjah and Muharram. Dhu’l-Hijjah is the last month of the Islamic calendar and it is also the month of the hajj as the name entails. This month is one of the sacred months because in it is one of the greatest seasons of worship in Islam; the first ten days of Dhu’l-Hijjah are considered as the best days of the year without an exception, not even the last ten days of Ramadan; however, the last ten n...

ISLAM AND SDGs Plant a tree, Get a reward and Save the planet    Allah says in the holy Quran  “And certainly We have explained in this Qur'an every kind of matter (examples) to mankind”    The seventeen development goals are major concerns in Islam because of the role they play in the development of humanity. There are some Muslims who thing that the SDGs have nothing to do with Islam because they think that the goals were not mentioned in the Quran and the hadith; that is the wrong concept, all the goals have one way or the other been mentioned in Islam either directly or indirectly in the Quran or the sunnah as quoted in the above Quranic verse; therefore, Muslims have more role to play in achieving the goals because their religion was the first religion to make mention of them for more than one thousand four hundred years ago. In achieving the goals, let Muslims not forget that they have to achieve the goals very constructively according...
